Z18 Idler Pulley

3D printer pulleys and bearing wear out (and get really squeaky!). If it’s time for a new one, find a replacement here. Then return to this page for installation instructions.
 
As always, turn off and unplug your machine before doing any repair work.

Remove the top cover and locate which bearing needs replacing.

  • Loosen the screws on the pulley bracket, in order to loosen the tension on the belt.
  • Unscrew the shoulder bolt and remove the pulley from the bracket

Grab your new part and loop the belt around it. The teeth should face inside.

  • Push the pulley back into the bracket while you push the shoulder bolt down, back through the center. To fully seat, you must place horizontal force on the pulley while tightening the shoulder bolt.
  • To re-tension the belt, place your index finger on one side of the bracket and you thumb on the other. Push the bracket toward the edge of the machine.

Screw in the two screws into the bracket to tighten.

  • Check your belt tension. If too loose, loosen the two screws and repeat the last few steps again.
  • Re-tighten the front screw.

    hi, I can’t loosen the front screw. there is a specific access?
